In observance of the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa this August, Brokenshire College proudly joined the nationwide celebration with the theme “Filipino: Wikang Mapagpalaya.” Led by the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), this year’s celebration emphasized the Filipino language as a powerful instrument of freedom and unity.
As part of the celebration, Brokenshire College hosted a special Pampublikong Lektura — a webinar held on August 19, 2024, from 8:30 to 10:30 in the morning via Zoom. The event aimed to deepen appreciation for the Filipino language, history, and literature while highlighting its role in shaping national identity and consciousness.
Students, educators, and language advocates from various disciplines were invited to participate and engage in enriching discussions about the liberating power of the Filipino language. The program underscored how language serves not only as a tool for communication but also as a means to preserve culture, empower citizens, and uphold freedom of thought and expression.
Participants were encouraged to register through the official link or by scanning the QR code provided on the event poster. Electronic certificates were given to attendees who completed the webinar and evaluation form.
Through this meaningful activity, Brokenshire College reaffirmed its commitment to promoting linguistic pride and cultural awareness, joining the nation in celebrating the Filipino language — truly a wikang nagpapalaya!
