As part of the celebration of Brokenshire College’s 71st Founding Anniversary, the Office of Research and Creative Works (RCW) successfully conducted a Research Training titled “Upholding Ethics in AI: A 71-Year Commitment to Faith and Service” on July 14, 2025, at the LRMC Periodical Section, 3rd Floor, EN Building, Brokenshire College, Davao City.

The training brought together faculty members handling research courses from across various academic units, including the Basic Education Department, Graduate School, School of Nursing, School of Allied Health, School of Arts, Sciences and Business Management, and the School of Education. The session aimed to strengthen faculty competence in research instruction while promoting the responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence in academic contexts.

Serving as the keynote speaker was Dr. Brandon N. Obenza, a distinguished faculty member from the University of Mindanao - Main Campus, who shared valuable insights on the intersection of AI, ethics, and education. His talk underscored the growing importance of integrating faith-based ethical considerations in technological advancements, aligning with Brokenshire College’s enduring values of faith and service.

The occasion was also graced by Brokenshire College President, Bishop Hamuel G. Tequis, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Felix C. Chavez, Jr., together with staff from selected offices. Their presence highlighted the institution’s continued commitment to research excellence, ethical scholarship, and the holistic formation of its faculty and students.

Through initiatives such as this, the Research and Creative Works Office reaffirms its mission to empower educators and researchers to champion innovation that is grounded in ethics, integrity, and service to others. A fitting tribute to Brokenshire College’s 71 years of transformative education.
