Brokenshire College, through its Community Extension Services Office, in collaboration with the JPPhA - Brokenshire College Chapter, the School of Allied Health – Pharmacy Program, the School of Medicine, and the School of Nursing, successfully conducted Operation Tuli 2024 on July 4, 2024, at the Young Christian Men’s Association (YCMA) Multi-Purpose Gym, Jacinto Extension, Davao City.
The activity served as an avenue for Brokenshire students and faculty to extend healthcare services to the community while fostering a spirit of compassion, volunteerism, and collaboration. The initiative aimed not only to provide safe and hygienic circumcision services but also to raise health awareness and sensitivity to the needs of young individuals and their families in the community.
As part of their active participation, third-year Pharmacy students offered counseling sessions to the patients and distributed Tuli Health Kits, which they personally prepared. Each kit contained sterilized materials such as bandages, antiseptics, and pain relievers to ensure proper post-operation care and recovery. This initiative showcased the students’ commitment to applying their academic knowledge to real-world service, promoting health and wellness in a tangible way.
The School of Medicine and School of Nursing students, under the guidance of their faculty members, performed the circumcision procedures with utmost care and professionalism. Meanwhile, the Pharmacy students’ contributions complemented the medical services, emphasizing a holistic approach to community healthcare.
A total of 105 boys from Davao City and nearby areas benefited from the program. Parents and guardians expressed gratitude to Brokenshire College and its partner organizations for offering free and quality medical services that helped ease the financial burden for many families.
Operation Tuli 2024 stands as a testament to Brokenshire College’s continuous commitment to community engagement and service learning. By integrating education, compassion, and social responsibility, the college remains steadfast in its mission to form individuals who not only excel academically but also embody genuine care for others.
